Built By Women: The Alford/Nixon Residence

The Alford/Nixon Residence in Saddle River, NJ, was designed by Eleanore K. Pettersen, FAIA. (1916-2003). Pettersen, a former Taliesin fellow, was active in the New Jersey and New York areas, serving as the president of the New Jersey chapter of the AIA in 1975 and becoming a Fellow of the AIA in 1991.  The Alford/Nixon House was built for John Alford in 1971 and sold to former president Richard M. Nixon, who moved in with his wife in 1981.
